Pretty in Pink

Lucy (our Shih Tzu) got groomed this weekend because she was looking/smelling gross. Andy took her to get a heartworm test and heartworm medicine; then he took her for a haircut. Lucy looked so cute with pink bows in her hair that we HAD to take some pics. Mary Catherine loves her doggy! She plays very nice with her and loves on her (after her "Uncle" Paul gave her the book "Tails are not for pulling"). Yesterday, Hannah was petting Lucy too, and Mary Catherine told her (with her disciplining finger), "Tails are NOT for pulling." I've heard that people who had dogs when they were little grow up to be happier; even if that's not true, she's pretty happy with her doggy now.

Sunbonnets in January

We had GORGEOUS weather in Austin last week. The temperature was in the 80's. We spent the whole week outdoors. I actually had to dig out some sunbonnets for the girls to wear. They had so much fun going for walks to our neighborhood pond to feed the ducks, exploring new parks and jumping on the trampoline. It was so warm that they even got to go around barefoot. Here are some pics that I captured while taking a walk.

Splish Splash I was takin' a bath

Hannah and Mary Catherine wanted to take a bath tonight. Hannah LOVES her baths. She was cooing the whole time, telling us amazing stories about how the bath water felt so good on her achy back. Actually, we have no idea what she was saying, but apparently she did.

Mary Catherine really enjoys her baths. She draws pretty pictures on the walls with her bath crayons and finger paints. She's really big on "M"'s. She writes the letter "M" with her crayons (though it actually has three humps). Tonight was special for her because it was the first time she got to take a bath with her little sister. She kept making "water falls" for Hannah by pouring buckets of water (Hannah loves the sound of waterfalls); Mary Catherine is very thoughtful. Mary Catherine apparently learned that Hannah likes waterfalls because whenever Hannah is screaming, we turn the water on and it soothes her. Andy just downloaded some nature sounds of the waterfall as well to help with this. Now Mary Catherine asks daddy to play the waterfall music for Hannah.

My First Post

I finally decided that it was time to start a blog. Everyone is always asking me for pictures of the girls so I thought this would be a perfect way for everyone to see them. Here goes my first post:

Today we went for a walk after all taking a two hour nap. We have been totally sleep deprived around here; it is not often that both girls are sleeping at the same time. While we were outside we snapped some pictures of the girls. Mary Catherine attempted to ride her jeep while I was playing with Hannah. Mary Catherine doesn't quite know how to steer her Jeep yet, so Andy had to keep redirecting her away from things like Andy's car (her first accident was today).

Yesterday, Mary Catherine had a fever (101.7); so we were a little worried that her infection was coming back. We called Dr. Urrea, who told us that she didn't think it was related. That made me feel better. Today, though, Mary Catherine was back to her usual cheerful self. We remembered that Dr. Brown (her ENT in the hospital) had told us that the infection won't completely go away for a month, so we could be seeing more of these little fevers. :(

I'm not really sure yet what all to talk about on my blog, but that's really all that I have on my mind for now. I'll try to post pictures with each blog post, but sometimes we don't download the pics often enough.
